In the comics Shuri took over the mantle of Black Panther for a time, and during that time I wasn't really paying attention to Black Panther comics. I have the entire series from the late 90's/early 00's written by Christopher Priest and loved it. But I'll get back to him later.
Shuri was a super fun kickass part of the movie and though I'm writing this only a week after I saw the movie it won't be posted until about a month later. Still, I don't want to give too much away about the movie. Just go see it already.
Being a figure outside the Marvel Legends line Shuri is more akin to the animated Guardians of the Galaxy figures and retails for a lower price point. This figure is pretty awesome still. Her 5.5" height means she actually scales well with the Marvel Legends figures since she is a teen. Sure she could use knee and ankle articulation but her arms have a good range of motion and her panther face vibranium blasters are just adorable. They are exactly what a teenage tech genius would build for herself. Totally one of my favourite characters in a film full of great characters.
Definitely a less life-like face sculpt than Marvel Legends. |
Pretty good detailing for a cheaper figure. |
One thing the movie does really well is have the super high tech stuff look like it totally evolved from the traditional Wakandan tribal culture. It's great. |

Vibranium Gauntlets for the win. |
Shuri's got moves. |
Awesome figure. She was definitely one of my favourite characters in the movie, even more so than black panther himself. I really like the cool energy effects coming out of her blasters. Sweet!
ReplyDeleteShuri is amazing in the movie and I love her adorable panther-faced blasters.
