Stratos & Scareglow (Masters of the Universe Minis)

Stratos is the leader of the Bird People of Avion. He can fly.
Scareglow is Skeletor's Evil Ghost. As in a ghost serving Skeletor. He can glow in the dark.
These guys are from the short lived Masters of the Universe Minis line.  I don't have much else to say as I'm not super knowledgeable about these characters. I love glow-in-the-dark so Scareglow really appealed to me and since each set came with a Castle Grayskull piece and weren't very expensive I decided to catch'em all. I find Stratos' ape-like qualities to be very odd for the king of the Bird People but that's also part of the ridiculous charm of MotU in general.

Taskmaster (Marvel Legends Series)

Taskmaster is a super-villain with the power to instantly mimic any skill he witnesses another person using. This makes him one of the Avengers most formidable foes though his main claim to fame is setting up an academy to train henchmen for other supervillains.

Here he's in his classic costume which was designed by the legendary George PĂ©rez. Articulation is the standard Marvel Legends though his cape kind of gets in the way of some more dynamic poses.
His gun is the same as Nick Fury's but cast in gold, I'm sure his sword is also reused from another figure but I don't know where it first popped up. His shield is quite appropriately a repaint of Captain America's.
Taskmaster is a great villain and his gaudy costume is lots of fun. Can't go wrong with skull face.

UFO Robo Grendizer (HL Pro Metaltech)

UFO Robo Grendizer is the third show in the Mazinger series. It started as an unrelated idea for a UFO themed super robot anime but the studio wanted to connect it with the previous Mazinger Z and Great Mazinger shows.

Duke Fleed is the pilot of Grendizer and the lost prince of the planet Fleed. He protects Earth from the forces that destroyed his home, the evil Vegan Empire (from the star system Vega presumably and not because they followed strict dietary restrictions).

This figure is from a smaller company HL Pro that makes die cast figures in the old chogokin style. The articulation is decent but not as robust as Bandai's Super Robot Chogokin line, however the die cast metal content is much higher. This robo is hefty.

The Spectre (DC Universe Classics)

The Spectre is the ghost of New York police detective Jim Corrigan who was brutally murdered by gangsters and returned from the grave as the Wrath of God. Created by Jerry Siegel and Bernard Baily in More Fun Comics in 1940.  He was an unlikely founding member of the Justice Society of America whose adventures lightened up quite quickly and he gained a comedic sidekick in "Percival Popp, the Super-Cop." The Spectre made a brief return in the 60's in a more cosmically oriented series with art by Neal Adams.

His next feature was a run in Adventure Comics written by Michael Fleisher and gorgeously illustrated by Jim Aparo. This Spectre returned to his vengeful roots as editor Joe Orlando brought some of his EC Comics experience to bear encouraging the team to have the Spectre dispatch evil-doers in grotesquely ironic ways while still staying just inside the Comics Code.

There was a middling revival in the 80's that had the Spectre interacting with the wider DC universe more than ever but my favourite incarnation in the 63 issue series from the 90's written by John Ostrander and illustrated by a host of great artists beginning with Tom Mandrake. This was an exploration of faith and morality that allowed Corrigan to grow, learn, and eventually earn his final rest.

Armoured Machine Gouram (SIC Kiwami Damashii)

Gouram is an ancient mechanized stag beetle that serves Kamen Rider Kuuga. It most often combines with Kuuga's motorcycle, either the TryChaser 2000 or the BeatChaser 2000. Apparently in the ancient past Gouram served as "horse armour" for the original Kuuga and can provide enough power to drive an motorcycle through a big rig truck.

This set also comes with golden armour attachments to upgrade Gouram to Rising Form. Since I only have the BeatChaser you'll get to see BeatGouram and Rising BeatGouram, though it's not very different on the TryChaser motorcycle. The distinguishing features get covered up by Gouram.
