Ultra Magnus Deluxe Class Figure (Transformers Generations: Fall of Cybertron)

Ultra Magnus was introduced as the leader of the Autobots on Cybertron in Transformers the Movie. He has taken on a lot of roles and personalities over the years but is generally a no-nonsense, by-the-book, lieutenant to either Optimus or Rodimus. This figure is a straight repaint of the Fall of Cybertron Optimus Prime with a new head and a big ass sword. Starting with Transformers: Animated Ultra Magnus has been more associated with big ass hammers than big ass swords, making this an interesting choice. As a redeco he seems to get more paint in his alt-mode than Prime did. His sword and gun can combine into an even bigger-ass sword.

Just to switch things up here's the Vehicle Mode first:
Spaaaaaace Truuuuuuuck!

Blade goes up...

...blade goes down.

"Lemme at them Seekers!"

Transforming robot with transforming weapons? To quote the kids these days "Dope."

Robot Mode:

His antennae caused interference with my camera... yeah that's what happened.

Lots of propulsion power in his robot mode. Not sure that's where it's most needed though.

Powering up!

The aforementioned big ass sword.

I decided that reverse grip on the blaster would be for Magnus and regular grip for Optimus. #headcanon

That classic sword/gun combo.

"You left me for dead Magnus!"

"Wait... was I even in the movie by that point?"

Ultra RAGE-nus!
(because this post got deleted when I tried to edit a single caption and I had to redo the whole thing!)

Even bigger big ass sword!

Nothing says articulation like holding a sword with both hands.

GRRAAARH!

"I told you Prime, those forms needed to be completed in TRIPLICATE!"

"By the power of Graysk... oops wrong toy-based media franchise"

Ultra Magnus: he's not overcompensating for anything...

He's a BAMF with a BAS (big ass sword? yeah I know that's never catching on)

Stage Complete!

  1. For whatever reason, the repaint makes the vehicle mode way more appealing. Also, Optimus should know by now everything needs to be in triplicate. Get it together, Mr. Prime!

    1. It's amazing how a good repaint can change things so much. Plus redeco figures often get more paint applications because the have fewer new parts.
